Anger
DO YOU FREQUENTLY LOSE YOUR TEMPER?
DO YOU FIND YOURSELF YELLING AT YOUR KIDS A LOT OR FIGHTING WITH YOUR SPOUSE OR FRIENDS?
DO YOU DRIVE TOO AGGRESSIVELY AND EXPERIENCE ROAD RAGE?
DO YOU OFTEN "TELL OTHER PEOPLE OFF"
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN LABELED "PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE" ?
ARE YOU FREQUENTLY DEPRESSED?
DO YOU GET EXTREMELY IRRITATED ANY TIME YOU FEEL YOU HAVE BEEN WRONGED OR NOT TREATED FAIRLY?
If you would occasionally answer YES to any of the above, it probably is merely a sign that you are human. You are experiencing a completely normal human emotion. However, if MOST of the
above statements are true for you MOST of the time, it is very likely that the pesky little emotion known as anger is a problem for you.
Not to worry! You are not alone! Anger is a difficult emotion for many people to handle in an appropriate and healthy way.
If you react to many situations with moderate to intense anger, most likely your anger is working against you. Misunderstood, out-of-control anger can make you and others around you
feel as if you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and potentially dangerous emotion. Problems at work, in your relationships, in your physical health and in the overall quality of your life are
often the result of anger. However, it doesn't have to be this way.
Counseling can help you to understand the origins of your anger, accept anger as an allowable, normal feeling, learn the difference between the feeling of anger and behaviors triggered by
anger, and learn to express anger in non-destructive ways. The more you know and understand about anger, the better equipped you will be to use it wisely.
